Defining War Crimes
Published in 1950 based on precedents set by IMT, the Nuremberg Principles lay guidelines for what qualifies as a war crime, giving structure to human rights protection, and placing responsibility of prosecuting war crimes on international community
Putting the Principles to Use
Though the Principles have been criticized by many lawmakers for being vague and "unenforcable", they have been adopted by the United Nations International Law Commission and form the foundation of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court
